Research on the Method for the Measuring Sheave Loads of Cable-driven Transportation System
Because devices related to cable-driven transportation systems, such as cable cars and gondola lifts, are supported and operated by wire ropes, safety may be affected if there is a large fluctuation in the load during operation due to the decrease of the weight on the terminal sheave that supports the wire ropes.
Research is being carried out to examine a measuring method for determining sheave load. The Laboratory will be proposing sheave load measuring methods that can actually be implemented at facilities. Furthermore, research is also being conducted on deropement phenomena wherein the cable slides off of the sheave.
